Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Announces Finalists for 2024 Honor

FORT WORTH, TX - The Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA), presented by SR Bats, announced today the finalists for the 2024 award.  "I am honored to announce the finalists for the 2024 Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award presented by SR Bats. Travis Bazzana of Oregon State, Jac Caglianone of Florida, and Charlie Condon of Georgia all had tremendous seasons at the plate and set themselves apart from their competition on a loaded BBCSA Watch List," said Tracy Taylor, Executive Director of the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award and the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation.  "They are at the top of many offensive categories in D1 college baseball and rank 1, 2, and 3 in several of the key statistical metrics the Selection Committee tracks each week of the college baseball season.  Whether you are looking at hitting for average, hitting for power, or discipline at the plate, these student-athletes really set themselves apart this season. I think that is the reason that many MLB Prospect lists have them ranked at the top of the 2024 draft.”

In addition, Tracy stated "I would also like to highlight the academic criteria that is a part of the BBNCSA and the credentials these student-athletes bring to the award as finalists.  We have All-Conference Academic performers, business related majors and a player that carries a 3.5+ GPA.  These are certainly the type of players who represent what the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award is all about. The BBNCSA Selection Committee did another outstanding job getting the list down to three finalists this year." The winner of the BBNCSA will be announced later this month and honored at a Gala in the fall.

The BBNCSA, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The BBNCSA originally had 52 players nominated for the award at the beginning of the season and added four players to its midseason watch list. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity.

The BBNCSA originally started out in 2017 as an honor going to the top college hitter in Texas. In 2019, the BBNCSA expanded becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. The BBNCSA became a national award in 2020; however, no winner was announced due to the COVID-19 virus which cut the 2020 college baseball season short.

Texas Tech’s Hunter Hargrove won the initial BBNCSA in 2017.  Dallas Baptist’s Devlin Granberg took home the honor in 2018 with Texas Tech’s Josh Jung winning the award in 2019. Connor Norby from East Carolina University won the BBNCSA in 2021. Ivan Melendez from the University of Texas took home the award in 2022 and last year’s winner was LSU’s Dylan Crews.
