Georgia’s Charlie Condon Wins 2024 Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award

Fort Worth, Texas - The Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) presented by SR Bats announced today that Charlie Condon from Georgia has won the 2024 award as the nation’s top college baseball hitter. Condon will be honored at a Gala in the fall in Fort Worth. The BBNCSA, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics, and personal integrity.

“We are honored to name Charlie Condon of Georgia as the 2024 Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA) presented by SR Bats." said Tracy Taylor, Executive Director of the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award, and the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. "Charlie had a tremendous season, leading the nation in several offensive categories, being named the SEC Player Of the Year and setting the BBCOR era home run record. We were fortunate to have Condon as a BBNCSA finalist last year and to watch him surpass his performance from 2023 was impressive.”

The BBNCSA has additional criteria and Charlie was just as outstanding in those areas. He is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, maintains a high GPA in Finance, and engages in numerous community service efforts. Charlie Condon truly represents the principles and values of the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award presented by SR Bats. “I’m honored to be this year’s recipient of the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award,” said Condon. “It’s more than just what you do on the field, they consider academics and personal integrity, and my parents and coaches throughout my life have stressed that. It’s an important part of being a good teammate.”

"I would also like to recognize the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Selection Committee for the work they did this season," said Taylor. "This was a very talented group of players, and it was a close race! The Selection Committee did a wonderful job in selecting Condon as the winner of the 2024 Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award presented by SR Bats.” Condon led the D1 regular season with a batting average of .443, had an on base percentage of .558 and a 1.601 OPS in the toughest league in college baseball. In addition to being awarded SEC Player of the Year, he was named Consensus All American, a Golden Spikes Award Finalist, and a Dick Howser Trophy Finalist.

The BBNCSA originally started out in 2017 as an honor going to the top college hitter in Texas.  In 2019, the BBNCSA expanded becoming a regional award covering Division I programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. The BBNCSA became a national award in 2020; however, no winner was announced due to the COVID-19 virus which cut the 2020 college baseball season short.

Texas Tech’s Hunter Hargrove won the initial BBNCSA in 2017. Dallas Baptist’s Devlin Granberg took home the honor in 2018 with Texas Tech’s Josh Jung winning the award in 2019. Connor Norby from East Carolina University won the BBNCSA in 2021 with Ivan Melendez from the University of Texas taking home the award in 2022. 2023’s winner was LSU’s outfielder Dylan Crews.
